During this project I explored the process of lino printing, For my design, I was inspired by optical illusions and op art.
To begin, I tested out the application of printing ink with varying amounts, as this significantly impacted the quality of the print.
From there, I began printing onto different types of materials such as tracing paper, sugar paper, tissue paper and plastic film. I enjoyed printing onto different coloured paper to see how the colours interacted with each other.
After creating many prints, I cut more into the plate, inked it up again and went over some of my previous prints with a different colour to create more dimension.
I also wanted to explore different compositions, I rotated the plate by 90 degrees each time to see how the rotation created a more cohesive composition as the shapes became framed together.
